Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry was died in a car crash close to Mumbai’s financial district, according to Indian authorities.
In a boardroom takeover in 2016, Mistry was fired as chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the $300 billion Tata conglomerate, which produces everything from salt to software. This led to a drawn-out legal dispute, in which the top court of India ultimately ruled in favor of Tata Group.

An Irish businessman of Indian descent named Cyrus Pallonji Mistry became well-known when Ratan Tata chose him to take over Tata Sons in 2012.
