What is CSV File?

CSV stands for Comma Separated Values file. CSV files are used to store data in a tabular format, with each row representing a new record and each column representing a new field. CSV files are commonly used to store data from spreadsheets and databases.

CSV file meaning refers that they can be opened and edited in any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad or Apple TextEdit. The values in a CSV file are usually surrounded by quotation marks, although this is not required. For example, the following text is a valid CSV file:

“John”, “Smith”, “New York”

“Mary”, “Johnson”, “Los Angeles”

Each value in a CSV file is on a separate line.

How to Open CSV File?

There are a few different ways to open a CSV file. Some methods will work on all types of files, while others will only work with specific types of files.

One way to open a CSV file is to use a text editor, such as Notepad or TextEdit. To do this, simply open the file in the text editor and then save it as a CSV file. This method will work with any type of file, but the CSV file will not be able to be opened in Excel.
