Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra ranking first in Diamond League series championship became first Indian athlete to win it on Thursday, September 8.

With a throw of 88.44 metres, the 24-year-old Tokyo Olympic champion took the top spot in the competition. He opened with a fantastic throw, which ultimately proved to be the Neeraj Chopra winning throw. In July, he took silver in the World Championships in the USA.

A few days before the latest Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Chopra injured his shoulder and could not participate. He had three valid throws and passed his third and fifth attempts (85.18 in the second and 80.04 in the sixth).

Neeraj Chopra Medals Record

Neeraj Chopra won the U-16 national championship by the year’s end. At the Youth Olympics Qualification in Bangkok in 2014, he took the first-ever international medal (silver). He won his first medal in a senior national championship in 2015 in the Inter-State competition in Chennai with a throw of 77.33 metres.
